Why I chose a Devon Rex?

It all started when I decided to visit the Supreme Cat
Show for the very first time in 2001.  l had been reading
about various pedigree breeds and decided to go and
have a look. At this time we only had our two rescue
moggies and were looking at Snowshoe’s or Singapura’s
to join our family.

Whilst seeing all the marvellous cats and their decorated
pens, we came across the Devon Rex. We noticed  how different they were; how they engage with you, with some talking back when spoken to and some being just plain cheeky. Towards the end of the day, we
just had to go back and visit the Devon Rex section again. We met an exhibitor, who promptly
got their boy out of his pen and invited us to feel his curly coat. Their  coat is so soft and rippled with little waves that you could cuddle a velvety Devon forever!

After touching that fantastic coat and hearing about the various antics that these crazy cats gets up to, we were hooked!  The Devon Rex was a true joy to meet.  We were in love and knew that the Devon Rex was the only breed for us.

My First Devon

The first Devon Rex to join our family was “Gr Pr Peribrook Snowdrop” or Lexi as we call her.  She is a si-rex and has the most amazing blue eyes and is everything l could ever

wish for.  We searched the country for a few months for a Devon Rex kitten and finally we found Lexi.  Originally we went to view her sister, but during our visit Lexi decided that l was to become her new slave!  That’s how our great love of the Devon Rex breed grew.

"I breed for health, type and that big
Devon personality."

Talked into showing Lexi we entered her into The Rex Cat Club show.  By the end of the day she was first in all her classes giving us tremendous pride.  She went on to become the Best Devon Rex Kitten 2002. What a great day!   Her show career had only just started and to this day she is still doing well on the show bench.

Slowly our family of Devon Rex started to grow, it was a couple more years before l decided that not only was l happy to be a slave to the breed but it would be lovely to have some Devon Rex kittens around the home. I wanted other people to enjoy the love and antics that the Devon Rex brings. So l became a small hobby breeder and breed for health, type and that big Devon personality.
